Georgia livestock auction summary

The summary of Georgia Livestock Auctions for the week ending Aug. 8, totaled 11,198 head, compared to 10,828 head last week and 10,181 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $2 lower and bulls were steady to $1 lower. Feeder steers and steer calves were steady to $2 lower. Heifers were unevenly steady and heifer calves were steady to $1 higher. Replacement cows were mostly steady. The offering included 10% steers over 600 pounds, 32% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 24% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 19% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
