Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,180 head Aug. 6, compared to 2,348 head last week and 2,329 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last weeks light test, steers 350 to 700 pounds were steady to firm, 700 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Heifers 350 to 650 pounds were steady to firm, 650 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady to $1 higher. Receipts included 82% over 600 pounds, 9% under 600 pounds, 9% slaughter cows and bulls with 219 head, early. The feeder supply consisted of 40% steers and 60% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 398 lbs., 135.00; 13 head, 440 lbs., 127.00; 18 head, 529 lbs., 121.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 114.50 to 119.00 (116.90); 700 to 750 lbs., 111.00 to 111.25 (111.19); 19 head, 762 lbs., 111.75; 9 head, 882 lbs., 109.00; 21 head, 936 lbs., 108.50. Feeder cows: Heiferettes, 11 head, 62.00 to 91.00 (70.55).

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 67.00 to 68.50; high dressing, 69.00 to 72.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 62.00 to 66.50; low dressing, 56.50 to 61.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 57.00 to 63.50; high dressing, 64.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 56.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 73.00 to 79.25; low dressing, 63.50 to 72.00.
