Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,013 head Aug. 7, compared to 1,731 head last week and 1,069 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm to $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 225- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 25% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, replacement cows 7%, and feeders 65%. The feeder supply included 62% steers and 38% heifers, with nearly 28% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, four packages, 232 to 289 lbs., 145.00 to 154.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 140.00 to 149.00, package 391 lbs., 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00, two packages 407 to 409 lbs., 131.00 to 133.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 116.00, lot 524 lbs., pre-conditioned 119.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.50 to 115.75, calves 111.50 to 113.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 112.00 to 113.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 111.00 to 112.00; 900 to 917 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., pre-conditioned 160.00 to 169.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 127.00 to 130.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00, one load 467 lbs., pre-conditioned 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00. Medium and large frame 2, 200 to 300 lbs., pre-conditioned 124.00 to 133.00; package 512 lbs., 106.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 107.50 to 111.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 107.50; 600 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 106.50, one load 733 lbs., gaunt 111.60. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 234 lbs., pre-conditioned 141.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 112.50 to 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 109.50; package 508 lbs., 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 224 lbs., pre-conditioned 121.00; lot 509 lbs., 106.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 59.50 to 62.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 60.50 to 63.50; high dressing, 64.25 to 66.50; low dressing, 56.00 to 59.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 60.50 to 63.00; low dressing, 53.50 to 58.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 58.00 to 61.75; low dressing, 53.50 to 56.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 62.25 to 64.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 61.50 to 63.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 59.25 to 61.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1700 to 2200 lbs., 79.50 to 84.00; high dressing, 1800 to 1900 lbs., 86.00 to 90.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 950 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 825.00 to 985.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 975 to 1200 lbs., with 225- to 300-lb. calves, 1200.00 to 1325.00 per pair.
