Colorado Corn to hold farm safety seminarColorado "Farm accidents continue to be a problem for rural Colorado families," stated Vonnie Sonnenberg, Colorado Corn farm safety coordinator. Colorado Corn is committed to educating farm and ranch families on how to prevent farm accidents. As equipment and technology change in agriculture so do the ways we must address safety awareness. Colorado Corn will host a safety seminar at the Irrigation Research Foundation north of Yuma Aug. 20 starting at 5 p.m. The seminar is open to Colorado Corn members as well as the general public and is free of charge. Each year Colorado Corn focuses on a different aspect of safety in our rural areas. This year the focus is on how farm managers can educate their employees on how to work in a safe environment. The seminar will be an opportunity for those in attendance to interact and participate in discussions regarding farm safety. "With less than 2 percent of the nation's population in agricultural, rural Colorado cannot afford to lose farmers and ranchers due to farm accidents," added Sonnenberg. "Our goal is to reduce farm accidents by continuing education and awareness of the safety risks on their farms." A safety seminar is featured every year at the Yuma Farm Show held at the IRF farm located one mile north of Yuma on Highway 59. More information about the farm show can be found at www.irf-info.com or by calling 970-848-3043. 8/18/08 Date: 8/13/08 Advertisement
