Cattlemen to gather for ICA regional meeting Aug. 21Iowa The Iowa Cattlemen's Association will hold its 2nd annual Northeast Iowa regional meeting Aug. 21, beginning 10 a.m., at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in West Union. "With the challenges many of us have faced this year in Northeast Iowa, we may not have been able to stay current on certain issues," said ICA Regional Vice President Butch Neumeyer of Walker. "This will be the ideal time to get refreshed on valuable information affecting our industry, all cattle producers and interested persons are invited to attend," continued Neumeyer. ICA President Kevin Carstensen and Executive Vice President Bruce Berven will jointly present a "State of ICA" address. Updates will be given on a potential rule to limit application of manure on frozen ground and other DNR rule changes relating to manure stockpiling, etc. Members will be briefed on Country of Origin Labeling, as well as have the opportunity to ask questions. Brian Waddingham, Iowa Beef Industry Council Director of Industry Relations, will provide a bio-security update. ICA policy development process begins at regional meetings. Members will be able to discuss issues which are concerning to them. ICA policy will be determined at ICA Annual Convention in January. An election will be held for two Regional Nominating Committee members. All cattle producers and agri-business entities interested in attending are asked to RSVP for the luncheon and register their attendance to the ICA office by Aug. 18, at 515-296-2266. 8/18/08 Date: 8/13/08
