Superior video auction reportThe Superior Video Auction reported offerings of 238,000 head Aug. 1, according to the USDA-Texas Depart of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to the last week, trade and demand over 700 pounds was moderate on yearlings and under 700 pounds mixed, slow to moderate early week and moderate to good late in the week. The supply includes 46% feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds, 62% of supply was steers and 38% heifers. Prices for the 600- to 700-pound weights are for calves not yearlings in most cases. Prices FOB based on net weights after a 2 to 3% pencil shrink or equivalent, with a 3 to 6 cent slide on yearlings and 4 to 10 on calves. Current sales are up to 14 days, with summer deliveries August to September and fall deliveries October to December. Deliveries current through March 2009.
