K-State offering refrigeration in the Meat Industry Workshop

Kansas State University's Division of Continuing Education is sponsoring a two-day intensive short course on refrigeration as practiced in the meat processing and refrigerated storage industry.

The Refrigeration in the Meat Industry Workshop will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Oct. 1 and 2 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel near the Kansas City International Airport, Kansas City, Mo.

The workshop is intended for meat processors, meat plant engineers, design firms, facility contractors, refrigerated warehouses, and engineers and supervisors employed by equipment manufacturers.

Workshop topics include the refrigeration cycle, humidity control and equipment, U.S. Department of Agriculture sanitation design requirements, freezing of boxed meat, energy conservation and reclaim, and more.

The registration fee is $695 and includes text materials, lunch both days and all refreshment breaks. A discount is available when three or more people from the same company register.

For an additional $10 fee, participants may receive a certificate of participation reporting 15 contact hours, which will provide documentation for engineering professional development hour or continuing education unit requirements.
