ISU Ag Business Club upholds top national standingsIowa The Iowa State University Agricultural Business Club has been named the National Outstanding Chapter and received the National Creative Club Award from the American Agricultural Economics Association for the third consecutive year. The club received the 2008 awards at the annual meeting of the student section of AAEA July 27 to 29 in Orlando, Fla. The club received the National Creative Club Award for their "Guess the Member" trivia game that familiarizes members with each other and promotes attendance at meetings. In addition to the club's awards, member Joel Ahrendsen, a junior in agricultural business from Oxford Junction, was elected North Central vice president of the student section of AAEA. The ISU Agricultural Business Club is an undergraduate student organization advised by economics professors Ronald Deiter and William Edwards. "The achievements of Ag Business Club students over the past two decades is one of the more remarkable and most consistent success stories in the college," Deiter said. "Becoming the number one club in the nation is difficult. Staying number one is even harder, but our students have done it time after time." Since 1992, the club has received the National Outstanding Chapter Award nine times and has been awarded the National Creative Club Award six times since its creation in 2000. 8/11/08 Date: 8/6/08 Advertisement
