High Plains slaughter report

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Aug. 3, totaled 172,140 head, compared to 113,515 head last week and 218,793 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 2,143 head, 1,300 to 1,425 lbs., 93.80 to 97.00 (95.97); 65 to 80% Choice, 6,655 head, 1,175 to 1,435 lbs., 94.00 to 97.50 (96.34); 35 to 65% Choice, 31,065 head, 1,100 to 1,450 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00 (97.26); 0 to 35% Choice, 480 head, 1,250 to 1,355 lbs., 97.00 to 98.00 (97.82).
