Fall field days slated for Scandia, BellevilleKansas Kansas State University will host two fall field days during August for crop producers in north central Kansas. The K-State Research and Extension Irrigation Experiment Field near Scandia will host its Aug. 19 field day, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tour topics will include: 50 years of corn and soybean rotation research, the benefits of soybean seed treatments, late planting dates for corn, and irrigation scheduling/water stewardship. A meal sponsored by Simplot-Scandia Terminal will follow the tour. The Scandia site is about 2.5 miles west and 2 miles north of Scandia. K-State's North Central Experiment Field will begin its fall field day at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 28. Tour topics will include: ALS-resistant grain sorghum development, "To Replant or Not," chloride fertilization, and potential crops for biofuel production. A meal sponsored by Polansky Seed will be available after the tour.
