Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,348 head July 30, compared to 3,108 head last week and 2,260 head last tear, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 750 to 950 pounds were steady, steers 750 pounds and under were steady in light test. Not enough heifers for a market test, limited sales were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady, the bulk of the supply were mostly low dressing. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 79% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 9% slaughter cows and bulls with 215 head, early.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 295 lbs., 137.00; 300 to 350 lbs., 134.00 to 140.00 (137.59), 33 head, Fancy 346 lbs., 147.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 131.00 to 138.00 (137.58); 38 head, 683 lbs., 116.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 112.75 to 113.50 (113.15); 53 head, 814 lbs., 113.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 112.50 to 113.60 (113.17); 900 to 950 lbs., 108.75 to 111.25 (109.79); 950 to 1000 lbs., 108.25 to 109.75 (108.99). Fleshy 39 head, 885 lbs., 97.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 64.00 to 65.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 61.50 to 64.00; high dressing, 65.50 to 67.00; low dressing, 58.00 to 59.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 56.00 to 63.00; high dressing, 64.00 to 65.00; low dressing, 46.50 to 55.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 74.00 to 78.00; high dressing, individual 82.00; low dressing, 65.00 to 70.50.
