Company offers new semen straws in new size

Genex Cooperative, Inc., Shawano, Wis., uses effective semen processing and evaluation procedures; research and development; and high fertility standards to produce quality semen. Now, Genex will begin marketing all dairy semen in one-quarter cc straws.

Improved fertility is the basis of the transition to one-quarter cc straws. Genex has conducted extensive field trials with the results published in the scientific journal, Theriogenology. The field trials show conception rates to be significantly higher for services performed with one-quarter cc straws compared to semen packaged in the traditional half cc straws.

The one-quarter cc straw is simple to incorporate into current breeding programs as several Genex semen products--GenChoice and European semen--are already available in the one-quarter cc straw package. Semen handling and thawing techniques remain the same, though a one-quarter cc or universal artificial insemination gun is required.

The transition to one-quarter cc straws is one more way Genex is creating the cattle pregnancies today's producers need.
