Watertown cattle sales report

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 475 head April 2, compared to 875 head last week, and 825 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Though a light run due to snow and mud in lots, feeder steers under 750 pounds were steady. Feeder steers over 750 pounds were $2 lower. Feeder heifers were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder steers made up 54% of the run, feeder heifers made up 46%, with 86% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 21 head, 617 lbs., 121.00; 710 to 744 lbs., 100.00 to 103.70 (102.32); 11 head, 750 lbs., 95.00; 53 head, 807 lbs., 92.50; 857 to 883 lbs., 85.25 to 89.70 lbs., 88.43; 7 head, 921 lbs., 86.25 fleshy. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 516 lbs., 119.00; 19 head, 715 lbs., 99.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 388 to 390 lbs., 101.00 to 104.00 (102.38); 8 head, 594 lbs., 97.00; 12 head, 611 lbs., 96.50; 23 head, 691 lbs., 92.50; 718 to 744 lbs., 88.00 to 90.00 lbs., 88.26; 821 to 823 lbs., 83.75 to 84.75 lbs., 84.14; 8 head, 851 lbs., 84.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 26 head, 604 lbs., 88.00 to 91.50 lbs., 90.83; 17 head, 670 lbs., 90.50; 7 head, 770 lbs., 86.25. Medium frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 472 lbs., 82.00
