Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 5,392 head, March 27, compared to 3,904 head, last week and 4,424 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 300 to 650 pounds were steady to $3 lower, few suitable for grazing were steady to $4 higher, 650 to 1050 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Heifers 400 to 650 pounds were steady, few suitable for grazing were $1 to $7 higher, 650 to 850 pounds were steady to $2 lower, instances 800 to 850 pounds were $4 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 65% 600 lbs., and over, 33% 600 pounds and under, less than 2% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.
