"Living in the Country" seminar set for April 18

Texas

A seminar for individuals who have recently purchased rural property or are planning to move to the country is scheduled April 18 at the Somervell County Expo in Glen Rose.

"Living in the Country" is a one-day seminar sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service offices in Hood, Bosque, and Somervell counties. The program will provide landowners "valuable educational sessions which will enable them to make sound land management choices," said Josh Blanek, AgriLife Extension agent for Somervell County.

"The seminar is tailored to provide assistance to those who are first-time landowners, or those who grew up in a rural area, moved to the cities for employment, and are now wanting to move back to the farm or ranch," he said. "Whether you have five or 500 acres, you will not want to miss this."

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Presentations will include: "Establishing Native and Improved Grasses," "Brush Weed Control Without a License," and "Livestock Options for Small Acreage and Range Monitoring." Presentations will be followed by question and answer sessions.

The seminar will conclude at 3:15 p.m. Registration is $10 per person by April 11 and includes lunch and a copy of seminar proceedings. Late registration will be $25 and does not guarantee lunch or a copy of the proceedings.

To register or for more information, contact the AgriLife Extension office in Hood County at 817-579-3280 or hood-tx@tamu.edu, Bosque County at 254-435-6231 or bosque-tx@tamu.edu, or Somervell County at 254-897-2809 or somervell-tx@tamu.edu.
