Kansas State Fair announces Supreme Drive winners to be awarded $1,000

Kansas

The Kansas State Fair announces it will hold a "Supreme Drive" to salute the winners and exhibitors of the individual champions in the open beef cattle shows Sept. 13. In 2007, a committee was formed from exhibitors and others involved in the beef cattle industry to improve the open beef shows at the Kansas State Fair. Their goals include increasing the number of cattle shown, increasing the number of exhibitors, providing a great show for fairgoers, and providing marketing opportunities to individuals and companies involved in the beef industry.

With these goals in mind the open cattle show schedule has been adjusted to allow a Supreme Drive. To review the show schedule revisions, visit www.kansasstatefair.com. Nine breeds will show and the champion bull and female from each breed will compete for the overall bull and female. There will be a total of eighteen winning exhibitors. The premiums include: $1,000 awarded to the Overall Champion Bull, sponsored by Travalong, and $1,000 awarded to the Overall Champion Female, sponsored by Titan West. In addition, the eighteen breed champions will qualify to win the use of an OK Corral for a year and the use of a Travalong show trailer for a year. The Kansas State Fair open breeding cattle shows are open to all exhibitors.

In addition to the Supreme Drive, the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation will recognize the 2008 Wall of Honor inductees at the Sept. 13 event. These inductees are great Kansas cattlemen who represent the Kansas cattle industry.

Following the Wall of Honor presentations, the Supreme Drive will be held and the overall champion bull and female will be crowned. Following, a social and meal will be provided. Tickets for the Supreme Meal can be purchased on line or on the exhibitors entry form. For more information on the Supreme Drive visit, www.kansasstatefair.com.

Weird, wild and wonderful, the Kansas State Fair has it all. With a world-class Midway, blue-ribbon animals galore and activities for the whole family, the fair is pure Americana--an event not to be missed. "Pick up some Bunnies," party with your pals and hear the hottest performers at the Grandstand. Tour the many agricultural and educational displays. Win prizes, brave the heart-pounding carnival rides and sample the culinary delights. Enormous vegetables, odd artifacts, homemade crafts and the infamous butter sculpture--there is something for everyone. Scheduled for Sept. 5 to 14, the fair is the largest event in the state of Kansas with crowds expected to number more than 340,000. The newly renovated fairgrounds are in centrally located Hutchinson, Kan. Mark your calendars now and plan to join Kansans from across the state. It's a wild ride, baby!
