Jones County names new AgriLife Extension agent

Texas

Deborah Hailey will become the Texas AgriLife Extension Service's new family and consumer sciences agent for Jones County effective April 14, according to a joint announcement made by county judge Dale Spurgin and Scott Durham, district AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo.

The new agent transfers from Coleman County where she has served since 2004.

"We are delighted with Debbie's appointment to this key position within our district," Durham said. "She has done a wonderful job during her time with us in Coleman County, and I feel she will continue with her high standards of excellence in Jones County. She knows West Texas and West Texans, which should make her an ideal AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences agent for this vital position."

Hailey earned a bachelor of science degree in home economics education from Abilene Christian University. She has also completed course work at Navarro College at Corsicana and holds a kindergarten certification from Baylor University at Waco. Hailey is currently working on an online master's degree in family sciences from Texas Woman's University.

She has extensive classroom teaching experience in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten education. Before she began her AgriLife Extension career, she held teaching assignments in Mexia, Wortham, Kirbyville, Jasper schools and Coleman Head Start.

She holds professional memberships in Texas Extension Association of Family Consumer Sciences and Epsilon Sigma Phi.

She fills the position vacated by Martha Alice Sprayberry, who transferred to the AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences position in Taylor County on Jan. 1.
