Dodge City cattle sales report

Receipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 4,065 head March 26, compared to 6,485 head last week and 2,920 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 350 to 600 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, 600 to 700 pounds were steady to $1 higher, 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, 850 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Heifers 350 to 450 pounds were not tested last week, but a higher undertone was noted, 450 to 600 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, 600 to 650 pounds were steady, 650 to 750 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, 750 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Receipts included 77% over 600 pounds, 16% under 600 pounds 7% slaughter cows and bulls with 294 head, early. The feeder supply consisted of 62% steers and 38% heifers.
