Colorado cattle sales report

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 8,115 head March 28, compared to 4,261 head last week and 8,415 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold mostly steady with instances of $1 to $2 higher, full advance on 500 to 650 pounds heifer cattle. Yearling feeder steers sold steady to $2 higher. Yearling feeder heifers sold steady to $1 lower. Demand was good for all classes. Buyers continue to focus on cattle suitable for grass as summer pasture approaches. Volume of yearlings continues to diminish as we approach seasonally light receipt numbers. The supply was made up of 46% feeder steers, the balance was feeder heifers, with about 42% of total feeder supply was over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 123.00 to 138.00, mostly 123.00 to 127.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 141.00, mostly 125.00 to 135.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 118.00 to 134.00, mostly 118.00 to 129.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 127.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 112.00 to 119.10, calves 114.00 to 115.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 103.50 to 108.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 102.00 to 107.75; 750 to 800 lbs., 98.75 to 101.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 92.25 to 95.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 91.00 to 93.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 330 lbs., 132.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 122.00 to 129.00; 440 lbs., 115.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 114.50 to 129.50, mostly 114.50 to 126.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 109.00 to 117.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 107.75 to 117.00; 650 to 750 lbs., 99.00 to 102.00; 830 lbs., 88.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 122.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 113.00 to 127.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 121.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 110.50 to 118.25; 550 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 113.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 98.00 to 106.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 94.50 to 102.00; 700 to 760 lbs., 91.25 to 96.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 89.50 to 91.50.
