Belleville will host 15th Annual Northern Exposure Steer and Heifer Show

The 15th Annual Northern Exposure Show will be held April 13 at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds in Belleville, Kan.

Northern Exposure will have check-in April 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A mountain oyster and barbecue beef supper for the families and contestants will also start at 6 p.m.

Check-in will be 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., April 13 with the show starting at 9:30 a.m. A concession stand by the Cuba Cash Store will be available serving breakfast and lunch.

This year a Fall Heifer show will start the event, followed by the Spring Heifer Prospect Show, Supreme Breeding Heifer, Showmanship, Market Animals, Market Heifer, Steers, and Champion Market Animal. The following Heifer Breeds will make up the classes for Northern Exposure: Angus, Charolais, Chianina, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Main-Anjou, Maine-Tainer, Shorthorn, Shorthorn Plus, Simmental, AOB and Commercial. The following Market Animal Breeds (Steers) will make up the classes for Northern Exposure: Market Heifers, Angus, Chianina, Charolais, Hereford, Main-Anjou, Shorthorn, Shorthorn Plus, Simmental, AOB and Crossbred. The show will be judged by Lee Standley of Aledo, Texas.

There will be three classes of Showmanship: Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors. Prizes for Showmanship include Belt Buckles for Champion and Reserve Champion will receive Banners. Each breed class will have a 75 percent cash payback. Fall Heifer Champion will receive $100 cash and reserve champion will receive $50 cash. Spring Prospect champion's will receive $500 cash and a belt buckle and reserves will receive $250 cash and a banner. Cash and prizes are sponsored by area and local businesses. The Kansas Club Calf Association sanctions the event.

The Kansas Shorthorn Preview Show will be April 12. Check-in time is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and show time is 2 p.m. For more information contact Jay and Lynette Beam at 785-729-3497.
