Wyobraska livestock auction report

The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending April 19, totaled 6,200 head, compared to 1,100 head last week and 4,800 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo.

Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady in a light test. Overall quality was less attractive than previous test. Direct trading was slow this week with no comparison available. Demand was light to moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 36% of the supply, heifers 64%, with 66% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1300 head of the total receipts.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 365 lbs., 127.00; 435 lbs., 113.50; 515 to 530 lbs., 106.50 to 108.00; 610 to 635 lbs., 91.00 to 103.00; 710 to 785 lbs., 90.25 to 97.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 685 lbs., 46.50. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 800 to 810 lbs., 93.75 to 97.50.
