Watertown feeder cattle sale

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,630 head April 23, compared to 585 head last week and 1,300 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $3 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder steers made up 74% of the sale, feeder heifers 26%, with 88% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 488 lbs., 117.00; 20 head, 519 to 530 lbs., 116.00 to 118.00 (117.39); 18 head, 549 lbs., 127.00 fancy; 39 head, 582 lbs., 115.00; 8 head, 607 lbs., 113.00; 668 to 691 lbs., 114.30 to 117.50 (114.80); 16 head, 733 to 743 lbs., 109.00 to 109.25 (109.20); 779 to 799 lbs., 104.00 to 105.80 (105.09); 7 head, 818 lbs., 102.50; 870 to 883 lbs., 99.00 to 99.50 (99.21); 907 to 928 lbs., 96.25 to 97.50 (97.15); 955 to 990 lbs., 92.80 to 94.75 (93.16); 1025 to 1043 lbs., 88.80 to 90.20 (89.55); 1066 to 1082 lbs., 89.90 to 90.30 (89.99). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 561 to 572 lbs., 111.00; 675 to 689 lbs., 107.75 to 112.50 (108.90); 761 to 792 lbs., 101.00 to 102.50 (102.16); 18 head, 856 lbs., 90.75; 928 to 941 lbs., 92.00 to 94.20 (93.25). Medium frame 1, 12 head, 786 lbs., 93.50 fleshy. Medium frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 576 lbs., 102.00; 21 head, 736 lbs., 96.25.
