Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,627 head April 21, compared to 1,821 head last week and 3,457 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $2 to $4 higher, feeder steers were $1 to $3 higher. Heifer calves and feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher. There was very good demand on longer weaned calves. Weigh-ups were mostly average, with fewer new crop calves this week, along with very good attendance of buyers. The supply included 45% steers, 38% heifers, 17% bulls with 26% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 higher, with bulls $3 higher. A total of 225 cows and bulls sold with 70% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 318 to 335 lbs., 128.00 to 130.00 (129.67); 4 head, 365 to 383 lbs., 123.00 to 129.00 (125.25); 400 to 444 lbs., 121.00 to 127.50 (123.08); 3 head, 402 lbs., 114.00 fleshy; 450 to 489 lbs., 115.00 to 124.00 (119.34); 500 to 537 lbs., 114.00 to 119.50 (116.58); 550 to 570 lbs., 111.00 to 118.00 (114.73); 14 head, 622 to 624 lbs., 107.00 to 109.75 (108.96); 14 head, 650 to 680 lbs., 99.00 to 104.00 (102.16); 5 head, 724 to 745 lbs., 96.00 to 97.50 (97.19; 5 head, 782 to 798 lbs., 96.00 to 98.50 (97.49); 6 head, 903 lbs., 90.75. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 17 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1685 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.50 low dressing, 47.50 to 51.00. Boners, 30 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50 58.00; low dressing, 49.50 to 53.00. Lean, 48 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1355 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 52.50. Light, 40 head, 85 to 90% lean, 660 to 970 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 25 head, 1250 to 2290 lbs., 63.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 67.00 to 70.00; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1300 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average, 800.00 to 860.00.
