Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,627 head April 21, compared to 1,821 head last week and 3,457 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $2 to $4 higher, feeder steers were $1 to $3 higher. Heifer calves and feeder heifers were steady to $2 higher. There was very good demand on longer weaned calves. Weigh-ups were mostly average, with fewer new crop calves this week, along with very good attendance of buyers. The supply included 45% steers, 38% heifers, 17% bulls with 26% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 higher, with bulls $3 higher. A total of 225 cows and bulls sold with 70% going to packers.

Lean, 48 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1355 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 52.50. Light, 40 head, 85 to 90% lean, 660 to 970 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 25 head, 1250 to 2290 lbs., 63.00 to 66.50; high dressing, 67.00 to 70.00; low dressing, 58.50 to 62.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1300 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average, 800.00 to 860.00.
