Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,156 head April 21, compared to 2,644 head last week and 4,761 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were steady and over 600 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not enough for a market test. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the offering, and feeders 98%. The feeder supply included 89% steers and 11% heifers, with nearly 87% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 219 lbs., 141.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 136.00; 400 to 425 lbs., 121.00 to 127.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 116.50 to 120.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 120.50, lot 590 lbs., full 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.50 to 112.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 106.75; 800 to 900 lbs., 100.60 to 101.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 550 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00, 550 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 107.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 107.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 107.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 786 lbs., 97.50; lot 1001 lbs., 79.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 391 lbs., 110.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.50 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.50, 550 to 600 lbs., full 93.50 to 95.50; 600 to 625 lbs., 102.00 to 102.50, 675 to 700 lbs., 98.50 to 99.50, lot 699 fleshy 93.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 95.00 to 101.50, 719 lbs., fancy 104.50, package 723 lbs., fleshy 91.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 525 lbs., 91.50 to 100.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 93.00 to 97.00; package 717 lbs., 87.00; package 804 lbs., 84.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 51.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 51.50 to 54.00; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 56.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 51.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 40.00 to 48.50; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 42.00 to 47.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 1900 lbs., 63.50 to 67.00; low dressing, 1175 lbs., 56.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, 1050 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 550.00 to 560.00 per head; aged, 900 to 1000 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 380.00 to 450.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 800 to 1250 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 740.00 to 1060.00 per pair; middle-aged to aged, 650 to 1050 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, 500.00 to 660.00 per pair.
