Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,156 head April 21, compared to 2,644 head last week and 4,761 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were steady and over 600 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not enough for a market test. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the offering, and feeders 98%. The feeder supply included 89% steers and 11% heifers, with nearly 87% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
