Texhoma livestock auction

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 771 head April 23, compared to 850 head last week and 1,450 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers were $4 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers were $4 to $6 higher. Limited test on steer and heifer calves. Demand very good for feeders. Fill was average to full. The supply included 56% steers, 41% heifers with 88% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 93 cows and bulls sold with 78% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 515 lbs., 119.00; 17 head, 635 lbs., 115.00; 708 to 729 lbs., 102.00 to 107.00 (105.94); 29 head, 756 lbs., 107.00; 110 head, 822 lbs., 101.50; 851 to 853 lbs., 99.50 to 100.10 (99.98); 17 head, 942 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 570 lbs., 116.00; 16 head, 785 lbs., 102.75. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 653 lbs., 105.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 578 lbs., 98.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 18 head, 561 to 567 lbs., 98.00 to 105.75 (103.15); 24 head, 646 lbs., 100.25; 706 to 733 lbs., 97.25 to 98.00 (97.59); 757 to 794 lbs., 96.25 to 97.50 (97.16); 38 head, 818 lbs., 96.00; 18 head, 891 lbs., 85.00 fleshy; 5 head, 908 lbs., 84.00. Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 574 lbs., 96.75; 5 head, 640 lbs., 93.50. Medium and large frame 3, 5 head, 565 lbs., 90.50. Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 485 lbs., 93.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 2 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1225 to 1500 lbs., 54.50 to 56.00. Boners, 10 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1275 lbs., 55.00; high dressing, 58.50 to 60.00; low dressing, 49.00 to 52.00. Lean, 34 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1225 lbs., 50.75 to 54.50; high dressing, 56.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 50.00. Light, 11 head, 85 to 90% lean, 825 to 1025 lbs., 42.50 to 47.75.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 11 head, 1250 to 2100 lbs., 65.00 to 67.50; low dressing, 62.00 to 64.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 4 years old, 975 to 1375 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average high blacks 1060.00 to 1175.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1150 to 1300 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average quality 850.00 to 950.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1175 to 1250 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average quality 785.00 to 835.00.
