South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending April 18, showed receipts of 1,500 feeder lambs, 200 slaughter meat goats and 300 stocker nannies, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady. There were no slaughter lambs or ewes. Replacement ewes were not tested. Slaughter meat goats had no comparison. Trading and demand were moderate. Numbers of feeder lambs remain much lower than average years.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 1500 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, new crop 60 to 70 lbs., 120.00; 70 to 85 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00.

Slaughter meat goats: Kids, no comparison. Texas, 200 head, Selection 1 to 2, 45 to 50 lbs., 115.00.

Stocker nannies: Texas, 300 head, Selection 1 to 2, 80 lbs., 40.00 per head.
