Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 776 head April 21, compared to 480 head last week and 668 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, trends not applicable on slaughter lambs and feeder lambs due to lack of comparable sales and light receipts. Slaughter ewes sold mostly steady. Demand and buyer attendance was moderate. Receipts included 79% slaughter ewes, 10% slaughter lambs, 5% feeder lambs and the balance was mostly bucks and yearlings. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 10 head, 129 lbs., 92.50. Wooled Choice 2 to 4, 15 head, 142 lbs., 83.25; 151 to 158 lbs., 82.00 to 85.00 (82.75). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 160 to 186 lbs., 26.50 to 33.00 (30.83). Good 2 to 4, 181 to 192 lbs., 19.50 to 24.00 (22.35); 220 to 250 lbs., 17.00 to 20.50 (19.73). Good 3 to 4, 14 head, 241 to 250 lbs., 15.00 to 17.50 (16.41). Utility 1 to 2, 118 to 154 lbs., 15.00 to 23.00 (18.96); 162 to 172 lbs., 15.00 to 22.50 (19.05). Cull 1, 119 to 151 lbs., 6.00 to 12.00 (8.92). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 13 head, 50 to 59 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00 (115.95). 6 head, 69 lbs., 107.00; 5 head, 74 lbs., 100.00; 9 head, 85 to 88 lbs., 93.00 to 97.00 (96.09); 7 head, 94 lbs., 95.00.
