Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 5,149 head April 17, compared to 4,260 head last week and 5,513 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers weighing 400 to 550 pounds were firm to $4 higher in a limited test, 550 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 higher, and 750 to 950 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Heifers at 400 to 750 pounds were firm to $2 higher, and 750 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 74% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.
