Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,800 head April 14, compared to 7,350 head last week and 4,956 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, Feeder and stocker steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher. New crop calves were nearly steady. Demand and supply were moderate. Cool temperatures had grass at a standstill, but warmer weather was expected. The feeder supply included 59% steers, 35% heifers, 5% bulls, with 53% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 122.00 to 134.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 126.00; 530 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 112.00, thin 114.50 to 119.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 113.50, calves 101.00 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.00 to 105.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 91.00 to 98.00; 940 to 970 lbs., 86.25 to 87.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 245 to 300 lbs., 119.00 to 123.00, lot thin 130.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 112.00 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 105 to 114.00, thin 113.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.00 to 113.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.00 to 112.00, calves 93.50 to 101.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.00 to 104.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 85.50 to 92.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, package 254 lbs., 80.00; package 325 lbs., 71.00; 430 to 455 lbs., 64.00 to 70.00; 500 to 570 lbs., 62.00 to 69.00; package 740 lbs., 64.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 96.00 to 107.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 106.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 102.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 88.50 to 100.50; lot 751 lbs., 91.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 93.00 to 104.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 91.00 to 103.00, thin 97.00 to 106.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00, thin 96.50 to 103.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 87.00 to 96.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 84.00 to 91.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 78.00 to 84.75.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package 397 lbs., 118.00; package 492 lbs., 106.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; package 638 lbs., calves 102.00.
