High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending April 20, totaled 177,367 head, compared to 187,684 head last week and 195,192 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 1,246 head, 1,250 to 1,435 lbs., 89.00 to 92.00 (90.70); 65 to 80% Choice, 5,520 head, 1,145 to 1,450 lbs., 89.00 to 92.00 (90.35);35 to 65% Choice, 46,062 head, 1,000 to 1,480 lbs., 87.00 to 91.50 (89.96); 0 to 35% Choice, 3,102 head, 1,200 to 1,400 lbs., 87.00 to 91.00 (89.81).
