Georgia cattle auction summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending April 18 showed receipts of 9,502 head, compared to 10,122 head last week and 12,557 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher, bulls were $1 higher, feeder steers and heifers unevenly steady, steer calves and heifer calves mostly steady to $1 higher, replacement cows unevenly steady. The offering included 8% steers over 600 pounds, 33% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 10% feeder cows, 16% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
