Dodge City livestock sales reportReceipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 3,444 head April 16, compared to 3,979 head last week and 2,812 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers 350 to 650 pounds were steady to firm on a light offering, 650 to 800 pounds were steady to $2 higher, 800 to 950 pounds were $1 to $3 higher. Heifers 400 to 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher, 600 to 750 pounds were $3 to $4 higher, thin or grass heifers were $5 to $7 higher, 750 to 850 pounds were $2 higher. Lean cows were steady to firm, Breakers and Boners were steady to $4 higher, the bulk of trade were $2 higher. Slaughter bulls not enough for a trend, the bulk of the offering was low dressing with a lower undertone. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Receipts included 63% over 600 pounds, 31% under 600 pounds, and 6% slaughter cows and bulls with 168 early. The feeder supply consisted of 56% steers and 44% heifers.
