Dalhart cattle sales reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,739 head April 17, compared to 1,302 head last week and 1,231 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $3 higher, and instances of thin, gaunt or pre-conditioned offerings were $5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 35- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 33% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 0%, and feeders 65%. The feeder supply included 58% steers and 42% heifers, with nearly 60% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 140.00; 400 to 500 lbs., pre-conditioned 130.00 to 137.00; 500 to 600 lbs., pre-conditioned 122.00 to 128.00; 600 to 700 lbs., thin 115.50 to 116.00, package 689 lbs., 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 98.00 to 103.50; two loads 849 lbs., 97.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.50 to 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., thin 94.00 to 95.50. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., pre-conditioned 110.50 to 115.00, package 388 lbs., 101.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00, package 474 lbs., pre-conditioned 110.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00, package 501 lbs., fleshy 95.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 103.25; two loads 729 to 787 lbs., 91.25 to 98.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, two packages 525 to 565 lbs., 97.00. Medium and large frame 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 82.50 to 90.50. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 56.50 to 59.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.50 to 57.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 50.50 to 56.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 48.50.
