Colorado feeder cattle sales

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 3,157 head April 18, compared to 3,306 head last week and 4,815 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to $2 higher, instances of $3 higher on thin-fleshed types. Demand was good for all classes. There was increased buyer interest in thin-fleshed feeders suitable for grass. Auction numbers continued to taper off. The supply was made up of 50% feeder steers, balance feeder heifers, with about 56% of total feeder supply was over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 440 to 450 lbs., 123.00 to 127.00; 470 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 131.00, mostly 120.50 to 131.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 115.00 to 132.50, mostly 122.50 to 132.50, thin 134.00; 570 to 580 lbs., thin 133.00 to 133.50; 600 to 640 lbs., 109.00 to 117.00, thin 123.00 to 124.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 112.35, thin 117.00; 700 to 730 lbs., 100.00 to 110.50; 750 to 770 lbs., 96.00 to 100.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 86.50 to 99.25, mostly 96.25 to 99.25; 860 lbs., 92.85 to 92.85; 990 lbs., 83.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 310 to 330 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00; 360 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 121.50; 410 to 430 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; 460 to 490 lbs., 115.00 to 123.50; 520 to 540 lbs., 108.00 to 117.00; 550 to 580 lbs., 104.00 to 114.00; 600 to 640 lbs., 107.50 to 109.00, thin 114.00; 680 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; 720 to 750 lbs., 93.50 to 98.25; 860 lbs., 90.50.
