Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending April 12, totaled 1,100 head, compared to 5,300 head last week and 3,450 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady in a light test. Overall quality was less attractive than previous tests. Direct trading very slow this week with no comparison available. Demand was light to moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 38% of the supply, heifers 62%. Offerings over 600 lbs., totaled around 23%. Direct sales accounted for 150 head of the total receipts.
