Tulia livestock sale report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,644 head April 14, compared to 2,152 head last week and 4,201 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were not enough for a market test. Trade was active and demand was moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 2% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1/2%, and feeders 97%. The feeder supply included 73% steers and 27% heifers, with nearly 79% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 127.00 to 137.00, package 373 lbs., full 120.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 127.00, package 450 lbs., full 109.00, package 477 lbs., fleshy 115.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 124.00, package 568 lbs., fleshy 109.00, load 534 lbs., thin 125.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00, lot 625 lbs., thin 114.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.50 to 102.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 96.10 to 98.75, lot 895 lbs., full 90.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 398 lbs., 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 107.50 to 115.00, lot 499 lbs., 119.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 107.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 94.50 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 96.60 to 100.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 95.00 to 96.10. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 56.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 57.00 to 58.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 41.25 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 1700 lbs., 62.50 to 64.00; low dressing, 1600 to 2000 lbs., 60.00 to 60.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 950 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 610.00 to 780.00 per head; middle-aged to aged, 850 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 350.00.
