Texhoma livestock sales

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 850 head April 16, compared to 1,258 head last week and 1,438 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, limited test on feeder and stocker steers. Feeder and heifer calves were not tested. Demand was good for steers, moderate for heifers. Fill was average. The supply included 80% steers, 13% heifers with 50% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. A total of 214 cows and bulls sold with 35% to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 512 lbs., 124.50; 81 head, 565 lbs., 120.50; 99 head, 667 lbs., 112.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 577 lbs., 113.00; 15 head, 690 lbs., 104.25. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 388 lbs., 117.00; 10 head, 515 to 524 lbs., 112.50 to 114.00 (113.70); 10 head, 580 to 597 lbs., 103.00 to 104.00 (103.71); 18 head, 761 to 795 lbs., 96.00 to 98.00 (96.87). Medium and large frame 3, 6 head, 520 lbs., 85.50; 7 head, 830 lbs., 93.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 468 lbs., 114.50; 7 head, 602 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 497 lbs., 100.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 444 lbs., 102.50; 12 head, 760 lbs., 88.50. Medium and large frame 2, 13 head, 586 lbs., 84.50; 5 head, 641 lbs., 89.50; 5 head, 657 lbs., 91.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 4 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1275 to 1800 lbs., 52.50; high dressing, 56.75 to 57.50; low dressing, 48.50. Boners, 20 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1075 to 1375 lbs., 52.00 to 53.00; high dressing, 56.75 to 57.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 51.00. Lean, 26 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1025 to 1275 lbs., 51.00 to 52.25; high dressing, 55.00; low dressing, 47.75 to 49.00. Light, 19 head, 85 to 90% lean, 700 to 1050 lbs., 42.50 to 46.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 6 head, 1600 to 2000 lbs., 67.75; high dressing, 70.00; low dressing, 60.50 to 64.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 6 to 9 years old, 1150 to 1225 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average blacks 730.00 to 760.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 4 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1225 lbs., with 100- to 125-lb. calves, average high blacks 1085.00 to 1185.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average blacks 960.00 to 1025.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1075 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average blacks 835.00 to 935.00
