Nebraska Wheat Board's District 5 open for appointmentNebraska The Nebraska Wheat Board would like to announce an opening in District 5 for appointment by Governor Dave Heineman. This appointment will complete the term of a previous board member. The term will expire on June 30, 2010. District 5 represents the counties of Buffalo, Custer, Dawson, Franklin, Furnas, Gosper, Harlan, Kearney, Phelps and Red Willow. Wheat producers residing in any of the mentioned counties are eligible. Any wheat producer interested in the appointment may submit an application to the Governor's office for consideration. To obtain an application, interested producers can write to Peggy King, staff assistant for Boards and Commissions, Nebraska Governor's Office, State Capitol, Box 94848, Lincoln, NE 68509-4848 or call 402-471-1971. Producers may also submit an application online at www.governor.nebraska.gov/bc/board_comm.html or through the Nebraska Wheat Board office. Applications are being accepted immediately. Qualified candidates include those who are citizens of Nebraska, are at least 21 years of age, have been actively engaged in growing wheat in Nebraska for a period of at least five years and derive a substantial portion of income from producing wheat. Seven wheat producers comprise the Nebraska Wheat Board and serve terms of five years. For additional information, write the Wheat Board office at P.O.
