NALF celebrates 40th anniversary by recognizing longtime members

The North American Limousin Foundation hosted about 260 people at its member social Jan. 13 at the Doubletree Hotel Denver. The annual event is part of the Limousin breed's activities at the National Western Stock Show .

As kickoff for NALF's 40th-anniversary year, Dale Runnion, Longmont, Colo., NALF Hall of Fame recipient and publisher emeritus of the Limousin World, reflected upon the Limousin breed's first years in North America and the key players in that history.

Kent Andersen, Ph.D., NALF executive vice president, and Frank Padilla, director of member and commercial relations, then gave special recognition to the 34 members in attendance with at least 30 years of membership.

In total, NALF gave certificates of recognition to 126 enterprises for distinguished service to the Limousin breed through 30 or more years of active membership. That number included three of the organization's first 100 members: Waddle Limousin Ranch, Pine Bluffs, Wyo., which joined in May 1968; Gem Limousin, Bonanza, Ore., which joined in December 1968; and Bar JZ Ranches, Holabird, S.D., which joined in March 1970.
