Huron cattle sales report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 2,175 head April 15, compared to 3,069 head last week and 3,055 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers up to 750 pounds sold steady to $1.50 lower, feeder steers 750 pounds and up sold steady to $3 higher. Feeder heifers sold steady to $2.50 higher. Demand was good with many load lots in the offering. Many good quality heifers went back out into the country for breeding programs. Steers comprised 49% of the run, heifers 51%, 87% of the run was over 600 pounds.
