Volunteer management specialist joins Wyoming State 4-H staffWyoming A state 4-H volunteer management specialist joined the Wyoming State 4-H office March 24 at the University of Wyoming. Kim Reaman brings 20 years of experience working in youth and volunteer development, said Susan James, federal relations and staff development coordinator with the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service. 4-H is the youth arm of UW CES, and its state offices are in the College of Agriculture. More than 7,000 Wyoming youths are in the club program with nearly 25,000 youths receiving some type of educational experience through the 4-H program. The position is new to the Wyoming 4-H program. Reaman will develop curriculum and training for 4-H/youth educators based throughout the state. Her focus will be on recruitment, training, management and retention of volunteers. "We are excited to have someone with the depth of experience Kim will bring to the state 4-H program," said James. "Kim has been an invited presenter at regional volunteer management conferences and at the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents annual conference." Reaman started her career as an assistant 4-H educator with University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension and for 17 years was with the University of Wisconsin in Waupaca and St. Croix counties. She had served as the St. Croix County department head since 1997. She has a bachelor's degree in home economics education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a master's degree in Extension education from Pennsylvania State University. "With more than 3,000 volunteers in the state, meeting their training and educational needs through our 4-H educators is a formidable task, but, by doing so, we'll create a more complete and positive learning environment for all of Wyoming's youths in 4-H," said Johnathan Despain, state 4-H and youth development coordinator. "We are pleased Kim will be joining our team," said Despain. "Her experience will bring additional resources to our volunteers to help them as they support our educational efforts.
