Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,230 head April 7, compared to 1,789 head last week and 1,400 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $2 to $3 lower, feeder steers were steady to $1 lower. Heifer calves and feeder heifers were $1 to $3 lower. Quality was plain to average with few attractive. Weigh-ups were mostly average along with a few new crop calves coming to auction. Receipts included 50% steers, 45% heifers, 5% bulls, with 27% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 lower, with demand good on lean cows. A total of 299 cows and bulls sold with 61% going to packers.

Boners, 45 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1475 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 48.50 to 52.00. Lean, 48 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1550 lbs., 52.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 48.00 to 51.50. Light, 47 head, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 975 lbs., 46.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 51.50; low dressing, 41.50 to 45.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 32 head, 1400 to 2065 lbs., 62.00 to 65.50; high dressing, 66.00; low dressing, 57.50 to 61.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 7 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 680.00 to 785.00.
