Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 1,258 head April 9, compared to 2,710 head last week and 1,545 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 higher. There was no test on calves. Demand was moderate for all classes. Fill was average, few full. The supply included 55% steers, 44% heifers with 96% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 175 cows and bulls sold with 36% to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 553 lbs., 112.00; 5 head, 603 lbs., 110.00; 84 head, 714 lbs., 104.25; 781 to 782 lbs., 97.00 to 99.00 (98.21); 70 head, 832 lbs., 97.10. Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 764 lbs., 95.50; 6 head, 845 lbs., 88.25. Small and medium frame 2, 5 head, 610 lbs., 87.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 445 lbs., 105.00; 135 head, 780 lbs., 87.75; 95 head, 860 lbs., 85.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 129 head, 796 lbs., 86.10. Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 530 lbs., 92.00; 6 head, 585 lbs., 90.00; 5 head, 683 lbs., 89.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 12 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1325 to 1800 lbs., 52.50 to 53.75; high dressing, 54.00; low dressing, 48.00 to 51.00. Boners, 18 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 52.25 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 51.50. Lean, 22 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1125 lbs., 52.75; high dressing, 55.25; low dressing, 45.50 to 48.00. Light, 5 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 1000 lbs., 43.00 to 44.75.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 11 head, 1475 to 2525 lbs., 62.50 to 65.50; low dressing, 58.00 to 62.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 to 3 years old, 1050 to 1125 lbs., with 80- to 150-lb. calves, high blacks, 1085.00 to 1150.00; 5 years old, 1150 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average to high blacks, 1175.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1000 to 1250 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average blacks, 985.00 to 1020.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average blacks, 910.00 to 930.00; 10+ years old, 1025 to 1125 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average blacks, 700.00 to 710.00.
