Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,635 head, April 3, compared to 5,392 head, last week and 4,156 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 350 to 600 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, 600 to 650 pounds were steady to $4 lower, and 650 to 1050 pounds were steady to weak. Heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were steady to $3 lower, and 650 to 900 pounds were mostly steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 80% 600 pounds and over, 19% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers.
