Iowa Cattlemen host Capitol Hill barbecue, cattlemen's dayIowa On April 2, southeast Iowa cattlemen traveled to the Capitol where they grilled more than 700 ribeye sandwiches for legislators, their staffs, and other Capitol visitors. Cattlemen also had an opportunity to visit with their representatives and senators on issues of importance to them. A variety of topics were covered; primarily environmental and transportation issues. Iowa Cattlemen's Association Executive Vice President Bruce Berven commented, "We were very pleased to provide our product today. The beef industry is not only valuable to the cattlemen, but to all Iowans." Bruce continued, "This event provides the additional perk of allowing the cattlemen, their representatives and senators to meet on a more personal basis." The complementary lunch was sponsored by the Iowa Cattlemen's Association and the Conservation Districts of Iowa. Southeast Iowa county associations headed up the grilling under the leadership of Lee Johnson-Wapello County, Norm Ziskovsky-Johnson County and SE Regional VP, Scott Heater.
