Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, April 4, reported receipts of 1,649 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,511 head last week and 2,871 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were steady to firm. Slaughter lambs were steady to firm. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were steady to firm. Demand was good. The supply included round 50% sheep including nearly 850 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 40 to 50 lbs., 123.00 to 124.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00; 80 to 90 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00. Stock ewes, wool, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 110 lbs., solid mouth 40.00. Dorper ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 56.00 to 76.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 230.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 100 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00. Choice, 100 to 160 lbs., 65.00 to 70.00. Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 128.00. Good, 40 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 30.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 125.00 to 139.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 129.00 to 138.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 118.00 to 125.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 118.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 70 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00. Billies, few 90 to 150 lbs., 70.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 100 lbs., 75.00 to 85.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, few fancy nanny kids 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 133.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 70 to 120 lbs., 40.00 to 60.00.
