Dodge City cattle sales reportReceipts at Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 4,296 head April 2, compared to 4,065 head last week and 4,302 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, not enough steers and heifers 350 to 600 pounds in any one class for an adequate price comparison, but a lower undertone was noted. Steers 600 to 650 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, 650 to 700 pounds were not tested, 700 to 900 pounds were weak to $2 lower, 900 to 950 pounds were steady. Heifers 600 to 825 pounds were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $4 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 77% over 600 pounds, 16% under 600 pounds and 7% slaughter cows and bulls with 252 early. The feeder supply consisted of 70% steers and 30% heifers.
