Declines posted for grain, soybean bids

Grain and soybean bids declined after posting gains last week, according to the National Grain Market Summary, April 7.

Wheat was sharply lower on profit taking. Corn and soybeans saw spillover pressure from wheat. Parts of the Midwest continue to be wet keeping farmers from doing field work. Wheat was mostly 39 to 57 cents lower. Corn was 3 to 9 cents lower. Sorghum was 14 to 15 cents lower. Soybeans were mostly 22 to 32 cents lower.

Grains inspected for export for week ending April 3: Wheat totaled 23.9 million bushels, up 7.2 million bushels; corn 48.5 million bushels, up 5.5 million bushels; sorghum 5.1 million bushels, up 3.1 million bushels and soybeans 12.3 million bushels, down 11.9 million bushels compared to a week ago.

Year to date: Wheat totaled 1065.0 million bushels up 327.1 million; corn 1519.7 million bushels up 46.2 million; sorghum 207.3 million bushels up 117.2 million and soybeans 851.7 million bushels down 31.5 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

In the futures close, Kansas City May wheat was $9.79 1/4, down 49 1/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $9.29, down 50 cents; Minneapolis, $13.56 3/4, down 51 1/2 cents; Portland, $10.25 to $10.50, unchanged to up 15 cents; St. Louis, $7.45, down 57 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $5.68, down 8 cents; Minneapolis, $5.46, down 3 cents; southern Iowa, $5.48 to $5.55, down 9 cents; Omaha, $5.56 to $5.60, down 8 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $12.05, down 22 cents; Minneapolis, $11.93, down 11 cents; southern Iowa, $11.94 to $12.06, down 23 to 24 cents; central Illinois processors, $12.15 to $12.35, down 22 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices April 8, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $10.27 to $10.97, up 12 3/4 to 7 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $10.92 to $11.37, up 7 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $11.37 to $12.27, up 7 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $12.32 to $12.47, up 7 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $9.52 to $9.87, up 2 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $5.69 to $5.74, up 27 to 14 cents.
