Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,750 head April 3, compared to 2,146 head last week and 1,081 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers long-weaned or thin were steady, load lots over 575 pounds were firm. Few packages bawling calves were $5 to $10 lower. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 775-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 14% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 0%, and feeders 84%. The feeder supply included 40% steers and 60% heifers, with nearly 33% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 123.00; four packages 400 to 450 lbs., 116.00 to 130.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.75 to 118.00, two packages 590 to 599 lbs., 98.50 to 100.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00, package 610 lbs., 109.00; load 769 lbs., 101.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 105.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.00 to 106.50; few 700 to 800 lbs., 93.50 to 94.25. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00; two packages 420 to 423 lbs., 90.50 to 95.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, three packages 316 to 378 lbs., 98.00 to 105.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 97.00 to 102.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 98.50, two loads 577 lb. yearlings 102.10; 600 to 700 lbs., 94.50 to 97.50; two loads 706 lbs., 95.10, lot 724 lbs., 89.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 379 lbs., 93.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 95.00 to 95.50; few 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 96.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 85.00 to 86.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, two packages 358 to 365 lbs., 96.00 to 96.50; two packages 427 to 478 lbs., 92.50 to 95.00; two packages 633 to 642 lbs., 85.50 to 88.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 54.50 to 55.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 54.25 to 55.50; low dressing, 49.00 to 50.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 52.50 to 55.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 50.50.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1800 lbs., 48.50 to 51.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1700 lbs., 50.50 to 52.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1400 to 1600 lbs., 52.50 to 54.00; low dressing, 48.50 to 51.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 1900 lbs., 69.00 to 71.50.
