Tulsa cattle auction report
The Tulsa Stockyard Auction report, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 4,093 head Sept. 17, compared to 3,350 head last week and 3,400 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last test three weeks ago, steer calves were $3 to $5 higher. Few feeder steers and heifers steady to $2 lower. Heifer calves were $1 to $2 higher. Though market trends were not tested in the past few weeks a definite lower undertone was noted. There was good demand on all classes. Weigh-ups were mostly average, few full. Receipts were comprised of 47% steers, 43% heifers, 9% bulls , with 24% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $2 lower. A total of 395 cows and bulls sold with 40% going to packers.
